Hello! My name is Karen, I\’m a contemporary artist based in Derbyshire, born and raised in Melbourne (UK). I love to create glass that is unique, beautiful and functional using various kiln formed glass techniques.
In 2003, I obtained a BA Honours degree in Ceramics with Glass Design. From that point, I saved up and steadily purchased all the materials and equipment required to make fused glass items. Since becoming self employed in 2013, I started selling my glass creations all over the world. I have been busy ever since!
I started my business initially under the name \’Kj Glass designs\’, but have recently re branded by simply shortening the name to \’Kj Glass\’. I am very proud of how well the business is doing and I\’m so excited for the future.
I have had various stockists since \’opening shop\’, many local and some further afield such as the Falkland Islands Museum & National Trust. It\’s been an honour to make customised pieces for the National Memorial Arboretum for the last two years and I will continue to do so for as long as they ask.
I believe creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes now and again, but art is knowing which ones to keep! It\’s not what I look at that matters necessarily, it\’s what I see and what I create using those images. My work is always evolving and I constantly try to push the boundaries of fused glass making.
